Roller bearing damage analysis as an independent partner | Findling Wälzlager

Identifying and repairing rolling bearing damage.

Rolling bearing damage can have a wide variety of causes and is not necessarily caused by a faulty original product. However, most companies are unable to carry out a detailed damage analysis – good thing Findling Wälzlager’s experts can provide further assistance here: Damage analysis is part of the service portfolio. Findling Wälzlager acts as an independent partner that looks into the causes of the ball bearing defects and helps solve problems.

The Application Technology department is responsible for damage analyses. In this way, the experts ensure a holistic approach to the root cause analysis. A modern and well-equipped in-house quality assurance lab makes professional measurement methods and highly accurate tests possible.

“A damage analysis in the field of roller bearings essentially means performing a root cause analysis based on the damage characteristics of the affected products,” explains Klaus Findling, Findling Wälzlager GmbH’s Managing Director. “We have defined concrete processes for this that are carried out step-by-step using checklists.” The first step involves a visual assessment, documentation of the damage characteristics and, if necessary, a lubricant analysis. In the second step, the application engineers carry out both a software-based constructive damage analysis and a tribological assessment. The latter concerns damage caused by defective lubricants. Findling then gives its customers detailed recommendations for how the damage that was caused can be avoided in the future.

There are numerous customers who can testify to the usefulness of this service, including a company and robot manufacturer that specializes in power transmission technology. Modified fits and more robust cages and rivets allowed the problems faced during operation to be eliminated in both cases.
